Perhaps what is being overlooked is that I am neither seeking, nor in need of redemption. I have no participation in the abduction, beating, rape, and murder of Annie Mae. I bear no responsibility in the decades long lies, silence, or cover up.
Neither did I abuse a woman, interrogate one, or point a gun in any manner at one. I did not participate in the destruction of wk2, throw old people out of their homes, take them hostage, or loot and vandalize. Likewise I did not enrich myself at the expense
of others, collect donations, or fail to assign them in regard to their intent. I never engaged in drunken revelry at Crow Dogs “paradise” under the guise of purification and ceremony, nor would I.
Neither did I shot and kill at point blank range wounded and defenseless men such as Williams and Coler.
No, this redemption, this explanation, is a thing left for those who are in need of it-ones like the AIM leadership of the wk2 era, others like Peltier, Graham, and the rest of that sorry lot. Redemption for them can only be achieved by an act of atonement-a word, an act, a state of being that is not in their vocabulary or understanding.
It is a curious phenomena, an inexplicable commentary, that any, irrespective of their worthiness can gather a following-we need only to look at history to know this is true, undeniable. And while humanity should be dismayed by this, none should be surprised, as it is well established in current and historical precedent. And as cited in another blog….
“If you want to motivate people, you don’t rely on logic and reasoning. No, what people need is a symbol.
A slogan, a flag, the face of a hero to stick on a T-shirt.
So what do you do if the real world doesn’t provide you with something people can rally around? You just make that shit up.”
In sheer volume LPDOC, Free Graham, AIM, and all the wannabe leaders have been fertilizer factories of epic proportion in making this shit up, and in doing so hold not only the patent for the process, but the distribution franchise as well, with subsidiaries scattered about the country and the global community.
The language of choice is not one of tradition and purity, as there is no fertile ground to be found where it may take root-what has been spoken instead is disjointed legalese and egocentric ramblings accompanied by the only soil that would support it-revision and shameless lies, obscure technical points that have nothing to do with justice.
Assumed poses, staged events in which the media are notified in advance, the onslaught of videos in such number as to suggest that the strategy is frequency will numb and erode to the point of credibility.
What defines their success and people as individuals is the manner in which they respond-the personal acceptance or denial of such persons/entities as a contradiction to all humanity lays claim to. Words and bold rhetoric that are anathema to deeds, that stand in opposition each to the other are easily recognizable.
In that vein how is it that one gathers comfort as an advocate while those they claim in advocacy aren’t likewise comforted, clothed, warmed, and well nourished? How is that those whose women and children will not face the same level of threat in being raped and abused are held in any esteem while they in their cowardice neither verbalize the reality or address it forcefully?
How is it that those who would advance themselves whenever the media is present, like Russell Means, in speaking of the epidemic tribulations of alcohol abuse will in turn desire to open a store to sell alcohol?
How is it that any would run from one end of the country to another, like Dennis Banks, promote them self, author propaganda presented as autobiographical insight, and pointedly, blatantly, refrain from cooperation or advocacy for Annie Mae ,and yet have supporters and groupies?
How is that Peltier in every bogus aspect of him, of his caring for the people, hasn’t arrived at the point of sacrifice in his “sundance” when others are more important? The point where he can rhetorically say it is a good day to die and allow the money spent on the fallacy of his innocence directed instead to those on every rez in this country whose needs are not only valid, but crushing in their urgency?
Redemption-I may have need of it, but never on a comparable scale to these ones. In that names and slurs tossed my way are meaningless, they neither arouse anger, depress, nor effect silence-if anything they are seen for what they are-diversion, an unwillingness in feigned strength and conviction to address real time issues and serve only to strengthen my own beliefs.
For all these who would be kings history will tell a different tale-just as it did with Custer, who once exalted in textbooks, movies, and biographies, is seen and known now for what he was-so too will they be. This life is but a moment in time, a few drops falling from a rain laden cloud-eternity is just that, eternal.
There will be no spin, no revision there-what was, will be that, and only that-no books to explain, no videos, no self promotion, no lies, no revision, and perhaps worst of all no one to make a dollar off of. The word for the Great Mystery in this instance will justice.
In truth when I see LPDOC or Free Graham speak of Constitutional rights I can’t help but think of how those who make their bread and butter railing against the government are the first to claim these rights when trouble comes-like Russell Means and his infamous Chinle defense, where he threw everyone under the bus, not only the Dine’ but all the nations-where he illustrated that the concept of sovereignty was an abstraction when it meant he had to be “free to be responsible”.
If we are to be governed then it is only right that whatever protections the Constitution guarantees be accessible to one and all-but I see no need to prostitute oneself or their people in doing so. I see no need to draw or invent obscure technical points that defy common sense to free the guilty- and yet it is a daily occurrence.
Peltier, Graham, and Russell have had the advantage others have not-that being money, whether it is the result of donations or other sources- that, plus the race card, which they won’t hesitate to employ if it serves them, while shamelessly wrapping themselves in the blood of the ancestors.
It is as though they are of the opinion the nations are dyslexic-that we not only read backwards, but our understanding is the reverse of what is. So backward, so incapable of comprehension, that decades later when the heat was turned up they suddenly authored the opinion that the murder of Annie Mae and those involved was best suited to be handled in a tradional style-failing of course to mention that what had transpired had nothing to do with tradition-that never once was their self serving love of the Constitution ever applicable for Annie Mae.
Evidently they have believed that abducting, beating, raping, and murdering a woman is not a denial of the rights of an individual, Constitutional or otherwise-or that in being
who they think they are their alleged rights supercede those of others.
I am sure there exists some code of behavior on Word Press that precludes extreme profanity, vulgarity-that alone would not stop me from expressing my feelings for all of this-the thought that perhaps women will read this, or a child may stumble across it does though.
Hopefully someone will do a study and produce a chart displaying the demographics of support-with no offense intended I, am more than confident the largest of these demographics would not be found to be among the nations-they know who their audience is, where the money tree grows, and that is who they play to.
I would add that my sister has made note that Custer in defiance of direct orders from General Terry was accompanied by one Mark Kellog during the campaigns, a New York Herald “war correspondent” whose glowing reports, articles, and telegrams from the “frontlines” served to make a “hero” of Custer, who above all else wanted to be a national hero and ride that into the presidency.
I think there are modern day Kellogs who likewise serve those seeking to be heroes, only this time those they promote are indigenous, and equally as unworthy.
