TIME TO ASK THE HARD QUESTIONS

“We appreciate the continued fundraising efforts as any funds will go directly towards offsetting costs for tribes that need to continue to benefit Lakota families everyday living needs.”

Seems as though now the funds raised to purchase pe sla have undergone yet another metamorphosis-no longer is it about purchasing pe sla, no longer is it about purchasing “other” land that may or may not be for sale-now it is about distributing it among needy families.

Sounds good doesn’t it? -very caring and compassionate- a great love of the people-only I’m beginning to have have a problem with all this ,and why and how this entire campaign has existed in a state of flux and revision almost  from day one.

I want to know, and I believe any who donated should as well, who is going to be in charge of distributing this money-what is the criteria-and who is going to be charging a handling fee for their services?

In addition I would like to know how much Banks and Clyde received for their “appearance” at the Vern Traversie rally-how much was raised in total, and how much of it did Traversie actually receive?

Also the question should be asked does this designation of needy families apply to all the nations?- as no single nation has a lock on poverty or needs. Will representatives from other nations have input into the distribution since they were called upon to donate as well?

Judging by the above quote it seems a determination has been made that this is singularly Lakota money. And I would like to know by what process that was arrived at? What metric grants entitlement to one nation over another?

This isn’t Lakota money, it is global money given to address a specific declared need. Money that people gave out of compassion and a genuine sense of commitment.

I can’t recall ever hearing of a fund raising campaign or even a telethon that changed the stated purpose three times. Three times, and we are only days into the official campaign.

I think it requires some sit down answers in view of this instead of minimalist “updates”-and as I said in another blog in response to a comment, this is beginning to sound an awful lot like all those other “projects” that continually called for donations and yet never reached fruition-projects like Yellow Thunder Camp and the “Immersion school”.

Early on I stated that we had contributed as we could and I would encourage others to-I retract that statement  and withdraw whatever support I initially offered, and say instead, unless, and until, a clear accounting and answers for the above questions are provided people should refrain.

This all leads me back to my suggestion that an effort be made to designate pe sla as a World Heritage site and avoid all this confusion and talk of singular nation ownership.

Since Chase Iron Eyes is not only an attorney but also the one who has been the most high profile in spearheading this donations campaign I’m confident he would be equally willing  and motivated to do so for the  heritage dedication – and undoubtedly pro bono in the bargain.

ELEMENTAL BEINGS AND PE SLA

The Supreme Court upheld the premise of sovereignty and nation to nation treaties in 1905 when it stated treaties agreed upon between the U.S. and any of the nations are ” not a grant of right TO the Indians, but a grant of rights FROM them-a reservation of those NOT granted.”

As the original land holders this opinion issued by the SC encapsulates a fundamental truth concerning people and nations anywhere on this earth.

But it is a truth unjustly modified by war, conquest, and greed.

We gave rights, ceded territory, and held what was important to us in reserve-important, like sacred sites, resources that sustained us, and above all the sovereign right to be and remain who we are….few of which we retain in this day and age,

Pe Sla, like all sacred sites is elemental to who the nations are-just as comparable sites worldwide are to others. We are elemental beings, animists if you like-our connection to the land and all that surrounds has been a defining characteristic-the restrictions placed upon that have weakened our level of connectivity.

These things, these elements, are our greatest strength-as they go so too will we.

In attempting to protect, retain, or secure them, any such effort must be free of politics and questionable motives. Confusion is anathema, and why I and others say the effort to purchase pe sla should be devoid of any association with the AIM old guard, any confusion-it cannot be turned into an opportunity for them to promote themselves or receive yet another appearance fee.

They, as do any other, have a right to express their opinions or desires, but not to profit from it in any manner-whether such profit is of a monetary nature or meant to gain notoriety.

For me it raises a basic question-is nothing sacred? Do we approach this effort as a people indistinguishable from our ancestors or mere shadows?

Perhaps the approach would be to have such locations  declared as world heritage sites to guarantee their protection.

The challenge should be for any organizing this effort is to remember that above all other things they are human beings in the context that has meant to us-that personalities and consideration for such things as who gets credit or wants it goes against everything we have believed in.

Lizzie Cornish: “You know what I dislike the most? This is what it always comes down to-lacking relevant input the  predictable accusation of fbi becomes the mainstay-part of the programmed response of what to say and do when attempting to extract  one’s foot from one’s mouth.

Some are more adept at it than others-I guess that’s necessary to compensate for Peltier’s penchant and marked inability to do so himself.

One could just as easily say that if there exists top level “snitches” among AIM such statements by the hoof and mouth contingent are part of the coverup, part of the “conspiracy”-that they are ultimately the feds and cointel -but then that would be stooping to the same base level. One of those vague  “possibilities” Claypoole likes to write about.

There is a phenomena I assume one would call it wherein some women become enamored of convicted violent criminals-they become pen pals, supporters, and tragically even harbor romantic illusions about them-at times this even leads to marriage. I’d like to see a study about that-statistics that show how it all works out.

Perhaps some of these women even have the name of their erstwhile paramour tattooed across their butt-maybe across their foreheads in a Manson style declaration of commitment- all that is lacking is that their name isn’t Susan, Patricia, or Leslie.

Peltier’s “defense” is about as solid as Manson’s-fitting then I suppose  that he has his groupies as well.

And you know what I dislike? Ignorance and those who obstruct justice for murder victims-and by extension the well being of the nations. An FBI manual-how about an LPDOC manual?
And oh yeah -I use as many tag words are as relevant and will continue to do so, because  after decades of lies and propaganda it’s called playing catchup, and I want people to have as much information as possible.

JUAN MANUEL SANCHEZ- GORDILLO, THE MAYOR OF MARINALEDA

A lot of craziness going on lately. I was reading an article about a fifty year cycle of social unrest and how we are on the cusp of another one.

Maybe this in some way explains current events, but I believe there is more to it.

Protest is a time honored and essential ingredient of a free people-it is in fact what precipitated the formation of this country. I believe it is an inalienable right- a part of the checks and balances independent of any written document or time line.

A human right regardless of governments or location-yet one that is increasing being assailed not just in this country but worldwide.

There is a man named Juan Manuel Sanchez- Gordillo, the mayor of a city in Spain by the name of Marinaleda, who is also a member of a regional Parliment.

Sanchez Gordillo has not only encouraged but participated in raids upon local grocery markets where people walk in, fill their grocery bags, and walk out without paying for it due to their poverty and inability to.

“There are people who don’t have enough to eat. In the 21st century, this is an absolute disgrace,” Gordillo is quoted as saying. And I think it is difficult to disagree that poverty, hunger, and desperation are a disgrace.

I’m not advocating for people here or elsewhere to do likewise-only that I see it as a portent of things to come, and I will never characterize a mother or father for taking food to feed their families as criminals-they are victims of a systemic indifference, of manipulative robber barons, and the banking system.

Sanchez Gordillo is being referred to by many as a modern day Robin Hood, and perhaps he is-but he also much more than that, he is an example of what a politician should be, someone who champions the most basic rights of people.

Something that despite all the rhetoric is sorely lacking in this country.

Germany along with the assistance of the IMF looks for all the world as if they are attempting to establish a Fourth Reich in Europe with Germany in the monetary drivers seat-since this is a globalist agenda that will serve global banking and corporate interests other non Euro countries are falling in line.

The current presidential campaign is an absolute joke-nothing either side won’t stoop to, no lie or fear mongering too low to embrace-it is the stuff of school yards and I know you are but what am I-yet people wave the banner, froth at the mouth, and elect to close their eyes to the bipartisan idiocy of it all while claiming they are a part of an informed electorate.

In doing so little wonder the nation finds itself where it is.

What is needed is a government of champions, a nation of champions-not blind mice, or the see, hear, and speak no evil that is so much a part of the bipartisan party centric model.

Protest and the desire for something better, for equity, doesn’t require “anarchists-it requires unity, dedication, and the willingness to admit what are truths and demand something better.

THE GREAT MYSTERY

We hear a lot of talk about the “Great Mystery” from certain individuals, and I accept that all we are, are meant to be, and our relationship with the land and Creator is a mystery to  them-they have no understanding at all of any of it.

Theirs is the dominion ethnic I mentioned in a previous blog-all things are viewed in the context of what service it can provide for them as individuals-how they can turn a profit, or get a little more media coverage.

It is the ethic of one percenters, which they have shown themselves to be-purveyors of trickle UP economics that increases their material comfort zone and requires only a few occasional crumbs to be tossed to those below them they stand upon.

To paraphrase a quote-they sail on the backs of strong men and women- wafting about from one paid appearance to another-they are like Trudell bills himself-word performance artists-all talk and no substance.

I can’t help but laugh at some of the performances-like Means penchant at times to engage a white member of an audience to sit and smoke a pipe with him-a cheap reenactment of too many Hollywood movies he’s watched, and symbolic of nothing.

Or Banks going on about walking for this or that while he rides in a truck to the next interview or the outskirts of the next town.

“I love all women”(Banks)-but apparently not Annie, not all those women pregnant or with children he left to fend on their own, not enough to speak out against the abuses women face or to support any effort to bring closure in the murder of Annie.

 Once Means finds something that works he latches on to it and attempts to own it like all politicians do-words like paradigm shift and matriarchy are the latest-and I agree that a paradigm shift is sorely needed, a shift away from the influence of the AIM old guard, and movement towards an “equalist” relationship between men and women devoid of words like patriarchy and matriarchy, devoid of the personal commercialization Means has associated with them.

Now as has been the way of it with everything else the “Great Mystery” has become a commodity to sell……as they  sail on the backs of the strong men and women of the nations.

TIRED

 

You know, what I’m really tired of is everything being commodified -everything being marketable.

I’m tired of the husksters and poverty pimps who enriched themselves at the expense of the nations -I’m tired of hearing them drone on about “their people”, tradition, which they know nothing about, and requires ghostwriters when they foist another book off on the public.

I’m tired of the cowboy boots, hats, and suits, the leather braids tenuously attached to what hair remains, and the entire show me the money attitude.

I’m tired of the sycophants who urinate all over themselves at the mere mention of their heroes name- I’m tired of the wannabes who enable them, who think liars, thieves, rapists, and murderers are a reflection of the people to be glorified.

I’m tired of those in the generation(s) that followed jockeying for position to ascend to the throne when they pass on- wannabes in their own right.

Look around the net, they’re easy enough to find-they’re the ones hoisting or posing in front of AIM banners-they’re the ones with AIM, Peltier, and to lesser extent Graham paraphenalia plastered around their site.

They are also the ones that avoid any discussion about Annie or Ray-though they have no problem with a photo in an attempt to legitimize themselves.

They are the ones who wail the loudest and accuse any who call them to task feds, pigs, and snitches-what a pitiful lot they truly are, what an unnecessary burden.

I’m tired of important issues like pe sla being co opted by AIM or associated with them as though they are some kind of damn corporate sponsor or clearing house, and tired of those who invite them in.

At this point I’m becoming a little tired of LRI and Iron Eyes Esq. who apparently wants to be in the run off for the AIM throne. Wonder if the Lakota Pope and his College of Cardinals have already made a determination?

I’ve heard the phrase the age of innocence-I’m not sure what era that refers to but it surely isn’t this one. This is the age of greed, avarice, and deception-ignorance is the hallmark.

A LOAD OF BALONEY

What a load of baloney. Tell me, IF Leonard HAD interrogated Annie Mae and a gun was concerned in that interrogation, then WHY did Annie go BACK to where she knew Leonard was and WHY did she fight to raise funds for Leonard after he’d been arrested by the FBI, whom she LOATHED by the way, to try to help him get free? You see,the story goes that Annie returned home on a visit to her family, and told them the ‘gun’ story. So WHY did she go back, let alone right back to where Leonard was?? Two possibilities…either this NEVER happened in the first place, OR it may have but Annie knew that he’d NEVER have used that gun against her, ever, and she knew the whole incident (if it ever happened) was borne out of the chaos and confusion deliberately caused by the FBI who,using their old COINTELPRO tactics arrested many people wherever Annie Mae happened to be, whilst always leaving her untouched, thus giving out the message they wanted believed, that Annie was working for them. She wasn’t, but they succeeded in blowing trust between great friends apart. They were, are?, experts at it, always have been, always, I’d imagine, will continue to be……..And now, I’ll leave you to spin your evil lies and spew out your hatred for an innocent man who has been wrongfully imprisoned now for over 37 years..Thank you.

Leonard Peltier Still Guilty:
Leonard was arrested almost two months after Annie Mae was murdered. How could she have raised funds for Leonard after his arrest? Her IMAGE was used to raise fund, that’s true. And Bob Robideau confirmed the gun in the mouth story… not that everything he said could be trusted.

If this isn’t a classic example of the complete confusion and befuddlement of the Peltierites I don’t know what is…..well, maybe their Standing Deer and Pellicano stories.

Lizzie,Lizzie,Lizzie-don’t you ever feel even a tinge of embarrassment in the face of such inarguable rebuttals? Doesn’t it ever give you pause to stop for a minute, put your thinking cap on, and seriously re evaluate your position?

As explained in the rebuttal to this Annie was already dead when Wind Full of Himself was arrested-do you understand the concept, the finality of death?

If so how in the world could you possibly make such a statement?

Cleanse yourself Lizzie-take one of those high colonics, a really high one, and open your mind up.

A standard of handling any gun is NEVER to point it at another-yet you would justify the “possibility” that if Peltier did it was alright because somehow Annie knew it was all a meaningless gesture?

Try that with a “friend’ sometime and see how comfortable you feel-how confident you are.

GOING GREEN

There’s been a great deal of interest in the Maya of late-most of it having to do with 2012 prophecy of impending doom which amounts  to little more than the usual internet rantings.

A lot of speculation over time as to what exactly fueled the collapse of the Mayan civilization, the latest as can be seen in the below provided link seems the most coherent to me.

In saying the latest I should qualify that by pointing out it isn’t all that new.

Deforestation is listed as a major contributing factor-and there are lessons to be taken to heart in that with the deforestation that is taking place in the Amazon and globally.

The global mindset has been one of “dominion” over all things-it is a basic tenet espoused in the Christian bible-but routinely practiced by others regardless of their religious beliefs.

I’ve always been a little confused by this dominion ethic when the same book says to be good stewards-I would think that would imply stewardship of the environment as well.

Humanity has for the most part lived as though resources are infinite in nature-inexhaustible-it has been a prescription for disaster, and despite a growing awareness of this not enough is changing.

Globalism, greed, the principles of the acquisition of wealth and power remain unabated.

Words have a cachet to them-some more than others, as in “green”. A word  on everyone’s lips whose contextual meaning is understood by one and all.

Anything that gains popularity inevitably is a seen as an opportunity that produces a new market and new products.

In some ways these markets are like a pyramid scheme in that those who get in on the ground floor are assured of making the most money- a reality that has little to do with saving the planet.

I know some people who had a solar array installed on the roof of their home- sixty thousand dollars-that requires a lot of years to amortize as a result of lowering their energy consumption and monthly bill.

Ultimately it is about more than that though-and it is because of that green alternatives should be readily affordable to all-that flies in the face of profits though.

Ethanol has been nothing less than a fiasco requiring what amounts to subsidizing it’s production and ultimately requiring more energy to produce than it can deliver.

This isn’t an obscure fact but one well known-yet it has been promoted under the guise of “alternative”. If it could be produced more economically and less energy intensively then costing more at the pump would be acceptable, but when factoring in all things ethanol is difficult to make a case for.

What we need to understand are a couple of things-as alternative sources increase the cost will escalate to some point where it will either remain fixed for a period and then hopefully competition will drive the price down somewhat, or the more likely scenario will steady and deliberate increases.

An example of this is the “organic” awareness-anything with the label is double or more the price to purchase and effectively places it out of the reach of many-of children and elders whose diet is predicated on a fixed minimalist income.

Secondly, utility and any energy suppliers will undoubtedly lobby for and receive some form of legislation either on the local or national level that will allow them to maintain their profit margin.

That could be accomplished by increased taxes, taxing applications like solar panels-or even a fee for not using the utility companies product to a degree that satisfies them.

Any who think such a statement is outlandish should ask themselves if they really believe profit takers are content with any reduction?

The approach now should be to fend off any such future possibilities by actively advocating for legislation that will insure such things don’t  occur- once the fox is the hen house it will be too late.

Some municipalities are already claiming they own the rain that falls-and it isn’t that big of a leap to make the same claim regarding sunlight and wind. Think about it-they already claim ownership of the airspace above the cities and the airwaves to broadcast.

We have transitioned out of the age of steel to the age of green-green as in money-those who have it want more.

We live in a time when “ownership” is an illusion-society essentially rents all things through payments and taxes-fail to pay either and they’ll quickly discover they didn’t really own it in the first place. The possibility exists that they could even be imprisoned for non payment.

Would you argue you own the furniture you have or the clothes you wear? Think again-the IRS has a history of taking EVERYTHING to settle a tax bill. Doubt that? Look on the net for examples.

Going green is the remedy for the current insanity-but it too will come with an equivalent cost and a predictable fight against corporations already firmly entrenched. They will attempt to own it just as they have the internet for example-with all of your favorite politicians doing what
they can to assist them via legislation.

Reducing one’s reliance and carbon footprint doesn’t occur overnight-it is a process that eventuates through incremental steps- and if people aren’t willing to now, then when? When the mere act of breathing becomes a struggle with associated risks-when resource wars  and food shortages begin?

The price of food is predicted to escalate due to the drought that much of the nation has been experiencing-an indication that people often dangle by a thread due to their reliance on the public farm of the grocery store.

The price of oil is effected often times as the result of speculation and the most arcane of influences-yet the sales of gas guzzling behemoths like SUV’s is said to have increased-and I don’t really believe anyone needs a big 4×4 truck to drive around town in as some kind of male totem.

A practice has been to raise the price of something to such a point that people begin to mount an uproar and then “lower” it a level that remains higher than previously, and people are appeased-it is a market strategy.

I remember talking to an old man once who worked for years in a major supermarket chain-he told me there was a time when they would raise the price of various commodities immediately prior to a “sale”-then lower them a few cents from the elevated price, announce a big sale, and the public would flock to the stores.

Self reliance and independence are seen as a threat to the corporate money changers, so the approach is to target things like small and organic farms while rushing to include such descriptions as free range chickens, organic or pure this or that on their own products-their approach is two pronged like the supermarket sales mentioned above- to strike a blow against the competition and maximize profit at the same time.

Maybe we can’t expect anything better from “suppliers”, though one could surely argue we can-but what we can and must do is to expect something better from ourselves.

It isn’t about keeping up with the Joneses, fashion, or the latest tech toys, it’s about staying in step with reality and responding accordingly. It’s about understanding there is one earth and one environment-and no one has the right to befoul or destroy either.

IT ISN’T ALWAYS WHAT IS SAID-BUT WHAT ISN’T

Below is a copy/paste of an ongoing discussion concerning pe sla and other things- for me it raises a few questions regarding LRI, and with all due respect, Sara Jumping Eagles apparent inability to advocate for or post the Annie petition while at the same time being able to advocate, produce, and post videos on LRI.

LRI is increasingly showing itself to be an AIM affiliate-like local stations are affiliates of major broadcasting networks-no way will they endanger the support base AIM is for them.

Sara Jumping Eagle is listed on the LRI site as an editor and organizer-I assume that means a staff member with some measure of control over content.  As an indigenous woman operating in that capacity on a pro AIM site she says she knows very little about AIM, and doesn’t have much to say about Annie-maybe that’s true-but I suspect one  would have to live under a rock for it to be so-that and wear a blindfold and earplugs when engaging in work or association with LRI.

LRI is a slick site-well put together and with a lot of bling -nothing wrong with that, but any claim of being the Last Real Indians and representative of “real Indians” is bogus on the very face of it if they won’t address the issue of Annie Mae and Ray Robinson-and at least do so from a factual and neutral perspective.

I’ve attempted to maintain a middle of the road approach during all this, asking only questions that are reasonable and germane-we have made a donation on this end as the issue transcends other considerations-but I’m going to repeat what I have said-this is not singularly a Lakota issue and I’m not enamored that an emphasis has been placed on that to make it appear as though it is.

Furthermore if an implication is made in the name Last Real Indians that only the DNL are, or Chase and his staff are, or AIM is-Id say they need to step back from that.

I won’t be in the least bit surprised if the liberators show up at the auction for the media opportunity it will present despite having little or nothing to say in the build up.

I’m going to sit back now and watch as this unfolds-hopefully it all works out well. Respect to those of good hearts who are involved for all the right reasons.

Rez Hoofz Well it sure seems like joe is attacking me for the post lol. And now thinks im dick’s doughter. Lol he said to research. People .. he sure didn’t do a good job with me. Lol I do know dick but im not his blood. Why do people jump to the negative …first. it would be nice if we all could just come together with out bad mouthing eachother for once. There will always be something that we don’t like or understand. But if we keep fighting and bad mouthing eachother nothing will ever get done. My grandpa all ways told me to be open minded and to love everyone no mater what. Cause in the end it could be a test. I never take sides and just want the best for the people. Joe Wade Rez Hoofz, thanks for clarifying the question of relationship to Marshall, to be very clear, there is no fight here, just answers being sought for uncertainties and lack of confidence, expressing points of peculiar occurrences that could be underlying factors for motives and curiosity about the schedule of which this issue is unfolding and where it is going.

My personal “opinions” about smucks working on people’s sympathy, is what it is, based on past events and comments within the pr of this issue, such as building a highway through sacred lands, which has nothing to do with the title transfer, if the county elects to pave that road, it will likely do so and “ownership” of the tracts of land for sale will not deter them.

Linda Kramer, founding director of Borderlands Education & Spiritual Center, which is located on Pe Sla, tribes would need around $10 million to secure the parcel up for grabs next month. Kramer said the Reynolds family has partitioned the land into five plots for saleability.

If tribes are unable to raise the money by Aug. 25 to purchase the plots and thereby protect their common vested interest in Pe Sla, the area will be open to commercial development, she said.

“I don’t know if (any tribes) can get together on getting the money together before August,” said Kramer, who was adopted by the Sicangu Lakota, or Rosebud Sioux Tribe, in a Hunka, or Making of Relatives, ceremony.
