“A civilization is not destroyed from without until it is destroyed from within.” M.Durant
“A nation is not conquered UNTIL the hearts of its women are on the ground. Then it is finished, no matter how brave its warriors,Or how strong their weapons.” Tse-tsehese-staeste nation
As a people the nations have withstood many attempts to not only conquer us, but destroy us as well-with limited success.
I say limited success because some nations and languages no longer exists.
Up until the twentieth century such attempts were external and carried out by people whose ethnic origins lay elsewhere.
In the last three or so decades of the twentieth century a new threat to the culture, traditions, and well being of the nations arose-a threat from within, that after initially being referred to as CIA (concerned Indians of America) became know as AIM-the American Indian Movement.
The original intent as expressed was laudable, but in short order greed and ego segued into criminal acts, the pursuit of personal power, and the acquisition of wealth.
The result was that traditional leadership and tradition itself were co opted and what we see today is the result of that.
All this in just a few short decades-I would say that this destruction from within has already begun and if the hearts of our women are not already on the ground they soon will be if these things continue.
Few want to speak of these things-and no one within the AIM hierarchy-yet they, like we, remain, and aren’t going away as long as silence reigns.
As a people we can exist or thrive, we can choose to remain static or overcome the inertia of the silence and move forward. We can finish the work of those who have sought to destroy our way of life past and present or we can resist and take back what is ours.
