I happened upon a blog that included references to the Bower bird, long a favorite of mine, and so I thought I would pay an homage to this unique little craftsman.
Behold the amazing bower-a structure designed solely with the intent of impressing the ladies.
An amazing feat when the mechanics are factored in-the fact that this is constructed by a bird that has no hands, no tools, no slide rule or speed square, nor if we are to believe science, the ability to cognitively design or think abstractly.
No male cosmetics for this bird, no man purse, no slave to fashion, no pectoral implants or arduous hours spent in the gym-merely a reliance on the ability to create, and in doing so speak through it.
Not satisfied with merely constructing the bower he then decorates the entrance to add just the right nuances, and I can’t help but marvel at the decision making process, the selection that often seems to be based on color.
As if this isn’t feat enough when a female drops in to investigate and evaluate his worthiness he entertains her with song and dance-he on one side and she on the other in the hopes of enticing her to cross the threshold.
I’d say the Bower bird not only talks the talk but walks the walk as well- a truly amazing bird.
