An excerpt from a Statement from Leonard Peltier 11/11/2013 “Inside Looking Out”
“I guess what I am trying to say to you is that it is not unusual nor inappropriate for there to be changes within the Peltier Defense Committee.”
A rare truth, if only a partial one spoken by Peltier- “change” has probably taken place within LPDOC more often than politicians on the campaign trail promise it.
A device by politicians to curry favor and garner votes -an event that obliges Peltier and LPDOC to do damage control and spin in a positive fashion.
Attrition surely plays a role in some of these departures, and though that may or may not be the case with Ninham and Kuzma ample evidence exists that once on the inside and having to associate with a man who has come to believe the myth created for him and the existing reality of guilt, the denial of that guilt, and the extremes gone to in denying it an erosion sets in, perhaps an uneasiness leaving a sour taste in one’s mouth.
Attorney client privilege disallows an attorney saying they’ve had enough, that indeed their client is guilty, “ethics” I suppose also restrains them saying anything other than no conflict exists, it’s merely time to move on, it’s been a “honor” etc etc.
Former Peltier and recently departed attorney Kuzma publicly spoke a truth when saying the Mr.X story was a lie- in doing so it apparently went against the grain and illustrated that LPDOC and Peltier will not only embrace a lie but promote it as well- and the question can only arise what else will they and have they lied about? Why do they feel it necessary to do so?
I heard a saying once that “the more things change, the more they stay the same”. I expect much the same of LPDOC and Peltier -the stories may change but the guilt will remain the same-supporters, attorneys, volunteers, and the like will come and go through that revolving door and that too will remain the same….. as will the explanations and talk of new directions.
