Maybe not as dramatic as it sounds, but we live in an era of socially and environmentally apocalyptic times created by politicians and corporate overlords.
There is no spoonful of sugar that will help the medicine go down, nothing to make the growing political dysfunction more palatable – neither an instant remedy nor a panacea to mislead and promote a false sense of well being.
Unswerving loyalty to partisanship, to the cause, houses of allegiance built upon sands of deceit and exploitation. Reminds me of that Robert Duval line in Apocalypse Now when he says he loves the smell of napalm in the morning, that it smells like victory.
A nationalistic patriotism gone wild much the same as a party patriotism that employs not a chemical napalm to sear the flesh and landscape but a napalm of political machinations that sears the soul of a nation wreaking a comparable havoc, and ultimately cloaked in a convoluted presentation as the lesser of two evils akin to the stages of purgatory…Orwell’s Newspeak.
“IN A TIME OF UNIVERSAL DECEIT – TELLING THE TRUTH IS A REVOLUTIONARY ACT”
Few are those to be numbered as revolutionaries in the context Orwell spoke any of, many are the wannabes and pretenders.
Name a single issue and the flying monkeys of party patriotism will congeal into a giant finger pointing in accusation at their counterparts.
Speaking the truth is anathema and become a revolutionary act as Orwell said.
A nation divided, if not geographically then philosophically, teeming with a new generation of carpetbaggers more voracious and more intent on having it all than their predecessors.
“POLITICAL LANGUAGE…IS DESIGNED TO MAKE LIES SOUND TRUTHFUL AND MURDER RESPECTABLE, AND TO GIVE AN APPEARANCE OF SOLIDITY TO PURE WIND” – George Orwell
