I’m a little surprised that so far Dennis Banks hasn’t made an effort to garner some personal attention over the events in Ferguson, Mo. as he did in donning a hoodie during the Trayvon Martin situation.
Maybe he has and I’m just blissfully unaware of any such attempts – maybe the media hasn’t reported any such effort due to an understanding of Banks increasing lack of relevance.
It’s a good thing to be socially aware and active when circumstances warrant, but when it’s about self promotion as it always is with individuals like Banks and Al Sharpton it goes beyond shameless.
If Banks is so concerned about justice for African Americans via his “selfie” related to Trayvon Martin he can take a meaningful step in that direction by assisting the repatriation of AIM murder victim Perry Ray Robinson jrs remains to his family.
If Banks found the murder of one our own, Misty Upham, so grievous, so compelling, as to insert himself in the mix let him do likewise with the murder of Annie Mae Pictou Aquash.
The stumbling block is the wrong kind of attention would be generated as Banks is into the murder of Robinson up to his neck, and the common belief is that of the murder of Annie as well. Banks knows where the secret grave is as he ordered Chris Westerman to dispose of Ray’s body, he knows the reasons why Robinson was murdered, and it can only follow that he has over the ensuing decades been an active participant in the coverup.
Banks, if he ever was, is no longer a red man in any traditional sense of the word, he is amalgam of greed, deception, and avarice, a common criminal, who in my opinion has nothing to offer the nations and should restrict himself to scamming his foreign audience.
