You live in the burbs with limited space? Not a problem, city dwellers with less room are even cultlivating on rooftops. You’d be amazed at what a plot no bigger than ten feet by ten feet can produce- that’s a hundred square feet, smaller than a lot of kitchens, smaller even than some bathrooms.
A hundred square feet either devoted to a lawn that may look good but won’t provide anything of nutritional value or something that actually will.
You’re too “busy” or don’t have the “time”? Come on now, put the iphone or tablet down for an hour – put the laptop to sleep – they’ll still be there when you return as will all your contacts, emails, and whatever else there is that so captivates and ensnares you.
Neighbors can form a “co op” with each growing a specific vegetable or two in their ten by ten garden thereby increasing variety and strengthening the neighborhood bond.
It’s a small step from such a communal effort to expansion in other areas that would be equally beneficial.
