” After a six-year investigation, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission report
concluded: quote, “The Canadian government pursued this policy of cultural genocide
because it wished to divest itself of its legal and financial obligations to aboriginal
people and gain control over their lands and resources. If every aboriginal person
had been ‘absorbed into the body politic,’ there would be no reserves, no treaties
and no aboriginal rights.”
A Truth and Reconciliation Commission is also what is needed in these “United States”, but the sense of arrogance and entitlement will never allow this.
The same policies pursued by the Canadian government have been pursued in this country and throughout this entire hemisphere.
There is a great deal I could say about this, if I were to it would become an epic rant requiring multiple pages, so I’m issuing myself a rain check and for the moment leave it others.
There isn’t a single indigenous person I know who believes an “apology” makes it right, what does is justice and sovereignty….nothing less.
As shocking as it may seem I,we, don’t wanted to be assimilated and lose our identity – I, we, don’t want to have a foreign tongue become our first, our only language, become Christians, white or any other color than our natural one, nor anything other than who we are and have been.
Is that really so difficult to understand, so objectionable?
