Once in a great while Fox News actually runs a story worth listening to, the below link is one such example. One that I ran across by accident as I would rather eat my shoe than frequent their site.
In an earlier blog I posed the question related to Black Lives Matter and Native Lives Matter that in essence asked for an explanation of the criteria employed to determine the value of a life – whether it mattered or not?
What makes one more important than another? Why is a “thug’s” life more important than that of a child’s?
Peggy Hubbard addressed this issue and this question – no doubt she will alternately be praised and condemned for doing so, but the bottom line is more of the nations people are killed as the result of red on red and more of the black communities people are killed by black on that black than by law enforcement.
I’m already on record in saying if a cop commits murder he or she needs to be tried, convicted, and punished with the harshest sentence possible.
I’ve also said murder is murder and it doesn’t matter who commits it, whether it’s one of our own, a cop, or anyone else – the finality of a physical death is just that….final.
Cornell West seems to attempt to sidestep this by saying there is a difference between “state sponsored’ murder and communal murder – I would ask him to explain the difference in the physical realm. Is one more dead than the other? Has the victim been murdered less? Is the grief of survivors more or less depending on who pulled the trigger?
As a people we know all about state sponsored murder, as a people we also know all about community sponsored murder, which is exactly what it is if communities will not rise up and take their neighborhoods back. Will not demand an across the board justice.
If it’s about a movement then let’s get serious and not just go for the low hanging fruit, let’s be more inclusive, let’s stand and say All Live’s Matter and begin kicking ass and taking names………or we can devalue the words we speak by ignoring additional realities.
Silence is consent – All Lives Matter.
