More than a little focus on Hillary Clinton’s emails – the Dems are either crying foul or stumbling about attempting to minimize and the Reps are ecstatic while behaving like the proverbial bull in a china cabinet.
What seems to be missing as part a of the narrative is how the Department of Justice will respond, what course Loretta Lynch who heads the DOJ and was also appointed by then President Clinton as a U.S. Attorney during his tenure and is said to be dyed in the wool Hillaryite will choose.
Administrations tend to make DOJ appointees from a user friendly field of candidates – that brings into question whether they’re willing to play softball or hardball when it comes to various issues and how much influence an administration is capable of exerting.
During the Nixon administration Archibald Cox was appointed as an “independent prosecutor” for the Senate Watergate Committee – when Cox and that commission didn’t tow the line he was fired by guess who.
Didn’t do any good though as Nixon wound up resigning the presidency rather than be impeached.
An independent commission is exactly what is needed now in an attempt to pursue the unvarnished truth and offset the prevailing partisanship exhibited by both the parties themselves and the electorate.
Establishing such a commission may be a long shot as the Clintons qualify as the poster child for Washington insiders and undoubtedly would call in a lot of favors or could place more than a few of their cronies at risk.
Politics is a game of shadows, the goal is never to shine the light anywhere unless absolutely forced to, and once having done so to paint all things in varying shades of grey …. unless of course it involves the opposition party.
I’m inclined to believe there should be a permanent independent commission and independent prosecutor to address the “high crimes and misdemeanors” routinely committed by politicians and the government – one things for sure though, it will never happen unless people take back their government.
Now some may take issue with advocating for a independent prosecutor saying the current investigation isn’t a criminal one, at least as far as the public knows it isn’t , but prosecutors are the ones who either pursue and prosecute charges or opt not to depending on the evidence and better to have an independent one.
At least one individual associated with Hillary’s private server has already gone on record as saying they will take the Fifth – the Fifth, as in invoking the privilege against self incrimination.
it’s also been discovered that a second storage system existed purportedly unknown to Clinton and much to their chagrin.
A “cloud” based server that is being accessed by investigators – couple these with reports of Hillary being advised to “lawyer up” and I submit the need for a independent prosecutor and an independent commission should be obvious.
If Clinton is clean well and good, that should be made abundantly clear, if not then likewise that should be made abundantly clear and speaks to the need for an independent commission because whether they are willing to admit it or not I suspect they fully understand that in the game of shadows leaving such a determination to either party is like setting the fox to watch the hen house.
But then there are many things that are likewise obvious – like the need to remove the unfettered access lobbyists now consider to be their due, dismantling super pacs, new strictly enforced regulations regarding Wall Street and banking – the game precludes all such things though.
