Kind of funny – I know someone, a school teacher, who when Bush was running for his first term said if he won they would leave the country.
This was a person who I only would run across on occasion so when I didn’t see them for a long time I didn’t think much about it.
Not long after Bush’s departure from the Oval Office I happened to run into them at one of those small convenience store gas station combos.
We exchanged greetings and I asked how they were doing and noted it had been a while since our last encounter.
Turns out they actually had left the country upon Bush’s election and had just returned.
Ran into them again a couple of weeks ago and they said if Trump were elected they were leaving again.
I’m a little inclined to believe if people had the wherewithal more than a few might opt for a change of climate.
That may be seen as a personal solution I suppose but it doesn’t address the issues or make any effort to hold politicians accountable.
I imagine if working to address the issue of climate change just happens to include benefits for friends that could be considered a good thing depending on your point of view.
When it comes to politics though no one should ever believe it’s all above board.
I’m opposed to the pipeline for what should be obvious reasons – I’m also opposed to the idea that a corporate mogul can profit from steps taken to address environmental issues.
But if it comes down to matter of Buffet stuffing his pockets or allowing the pipeline I have to go with the one percenter while calling it what it is – cronyism.
When it comes to politicians and political parties I’m an equal opportunity offender, I don’t play favorites nor have I taken any parties oath of blind allegiance, and that being the case opportunities abound.
The above photo is an example, of course it could all just be coincidental, but we’re talking politics here and coincidence is a near non existent possibility.
Seems reasonable now to do a little research to determine which moguls stand to profit from deep sea drilling in the Arctic this administration has approved – if Buffets name or other big contributer/bundlers pops up again I’d say the games afoot.
An interesting bit of trivia is that Buffet also owns Dairy Queen – no inferred implications, just interesting to me.
