Had a sister send this to me and I’ve been thinking about it.
People can “fit in” or adapt if need be, but as the photo says it isn’t always where you belong.
This fitting in may be the result of peer pressure, which in my estimation doesn’t amount to much of a reason, or something of an act of survival like being stuck in situation or job you’d rather not be in.
Life is about compromise to an extent – what’s important is to know and understand when it is beneficial and serves a meaningful purpose.
I think it’s important for a person to feel they’re where they belong – there’s an essential element of comfort, security, and sense of well being that accompanies that.
A lesson is to be learned in watching a fish out water, nothing is accomplished but a lot of flailing around, and I suspect the same can be said of life.
There’s a saying that if life hands you lemons then make lemonade – I’d add that while making lemonade to look ahead and move in that direction – the only other option is to flail around like a fish out of water.
