Going back a ways now – a repost of a blog from 1-31-11.
All truth passes through stages-First, it is ridiculed. Second ,it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident………… Arthur Schopenhauer
What is needed now, if we are to look for a leader, is a new Denanawida ,or as the Mohawk call the peacemaker, Skennenrahawi-which means “two currents flowing together”.
Someone, a person, a people, with that sense of justice that would also possess the elements of Tecumseh as well- wanting peace and justice but willing to stand against those who would deny it and fight if necessary.
The balance between men and women was the central part of the message of the Peacemaker but I believe it didn’t end with that. The message was about more-it was a message of both despair and hope if you are familiar with the prophecies that accompanied it.
This two currents coming together to me has always represented strength and weakness, truth and justice, that are not restricted to gender-elements that are evident in this consideration of Annie and the events that surrounded her.
Her strength as a person and those who will step forward to speak for truth and justice for her, and the weakness of a leadership and the climate they created. Two currents in conflict that must begin to flow as a common one.
One can argue for or against patriarchy or matriarchy, both are doomed to failure if there is no flowing together and balance in the hearts of both men and women, because men and women have been forever linked with one another, it will forever be so, and as has often been quoted ” a house divided cannot stand.” And so we have not.
It was this very division among the the leadership of AIM and those it claimed to represent and serve that sealed Annie’s fate and is responsible for this huge chasm.
Women and the common people had little if any voice, and both men and women had, and have a continuing role in the murder of Annie.
This division has been manipulated and encouraged to continue in an obvious effort to deny justice.
It is such a simple thing, this desire for the truth and justice, and irrespective of all other considerations the calling of it for Annie Mae should be a unifying current that flows commonly seeking a common destiny.
Truth and justice-one cannot exist without the other. And every lie, every smoke screen constructed to obscure the acquisition of them, every false prophet and cobbled together hero has been willfully constructed to hinder this process and sustain the imbalance.
