Above, Scut as a child and in later years – not much has changed has it?
Historically as a people the nations didn’t perceive the arrival of the calvary as cause for celebration, and for good reason.
Fast forward to Oceti Sakowin and an entirely different dynamic is in play, this time they are on our side – this time an alliance has been formed, and rather than burn a village to the ground they seek to insure it’s stability by establishing a protective perimeter while constructing a barracks and mess hall for protesters that ultimately sends an additional message of commitment and permanence.
I’ve no doubt a part of the “official” strategy was perceived as the attrition of winter that would weaken the resolve and reduce the numbers of those at the encampment.
If so it is a strategy that has gone out the window and now Governor Dalrymple who has expressed concerns that events will damage the “image” of North Dakota dons sheep clothing and seeks to establish a relationship – an approached that could have been taken at any time previously but was shunned in deference to force and threats.
It seems obvious that Energy Transfer Partners has been pulling the strings all along, that Dalrymple cast his lot with ETP -equally as obvious that the Army Corp of Engineers response has been nothing short of feckless in the face of corporate interests and somewhere in the chain of command are those marching to corporate drums.
It is axiomatic that strength results from unity, I’ve always believed that various movements should be supported by other movements, that any form of tribalism that separates in difficult times is counterproductive.
The unity among the nations occurring now is historically unprecedented and the impact is undeniable – it is a unity that must become the norm.
This is about the environment, people seem to forget that the environment is global, it is isn’t merely a localized phenomena – but the environment isn’t just about the air we breathe or the water we drink, it is also about the political conditions we live in, respect for the individual and the common welfare.
An environment movements like Occupy Wall Street attempted to address, so I say those in the OWS should mount up and join the protest against DAPL – any movement taking a stand for the common welfare should.
On the near horizon looms the prospect of president elect Scut Farcus and his band of corporate minions – Scut had nothing to say about DAPL until just now as he not surprisingly expresses his support for the continued raping of the environment and the ignorant mantra of “drill baby drill” that is so much a part of the myopic conservative approach.
Scut who only plays to the cacophony of the like dimwitted and never seen a lie he isn’t willing to embrace and perpetuate attempted to cast himself as a champion of veterans – I wonder how long it will be before he calls those vets at Standing Rock renegades and savages as we have so often been labelled?
