Breaking with Trump is rapidly becoming something more than just a subject to muse about, or a potential option, as Republicans scramble to avoid the toxic fallout from their dear leaders actions.
Their let’s wait and see attitude based on an ill advised assumption, or perhaps delusional episode, that a Trump administration would be capable of operating in a sane manner has been dashed upon the rocks of tweets, an unrepentant egomaniacal leadership, and a public and global backlash not seen in decades.
An ill advised marriage on the verge of filing for separation if not divorce and no argument over who gets the kids – the plaintiff being more than willing to surrender custody.
Whether pro life or pro choice it’s abundantly clear that an abortion is being performed on the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the fundamental principles of human decency – an abortion funded by tax payers dollars, and that ought to really stick in the craw of “fiscal conservatives”.
In less than two weeks this administration has attacked the very fabric of the nation, alienated global allies, emboldened North Korea, China, Iran, and a host of others.
In less than two weeks there have been more demonstrations and people taking it to the streets then there has been in nearly a generation.
In less than two weeks a Republican controlled Senate and House in the vast majority have surrendered any vestige of independence and dropped the cries of Constitutional foul they were so noted for related to executive orders issued by the previous administration – wolves in sheep clothing or just flat out liars?
If the approach is about making America great the direction taken is characterized by pitfalls and a national misery yet to be fully understood or come to fruition.
With those holding the reins of power one could reasonably assume a politician exchange program with fascist banana republics has taken place.
The Americanization of said despots made notable by a cadre of aging out of touch individuals stuck in the past who long for the days of yesteryear, malt shops, McCarthyism, and demure obedient women who knew their place.
Walmart may routinely “roll back” prices as a marketing strategy but the values and hard won victories this country has gained aren’t commodities to be rolled back.
The Trump junta is characterized by an abundance of bullies, the slightest dissent results in more bullying, more tweets, more Kellyanne, Spicer, and Bannon followed by additional executive orders as acts of pure defiance rather than service.
The fact that the Koch brothers are entering the fray will surely send a chill down the spines of more than one conservative candidate when thinking of re election.
The Koch’s being the equivalent of Daddy Warbucks when it comes to campaign donations and who make Trump’s wealth whatever it actually is look like little more than chump change.
I tend to believe that in the rarefied realm of the billionaires club Trump never had much standing, he was tolerated, more of a Jett Rink than the perceived established blue bloods – a loud mouthed uncouth distant cousin awash in scandal to be endured.
One things for sure neither Trump, his team, or a single Republican office holder are going to tell the Koch’s to shut up or tweet about how unfair, sad, and disgusting they are – and that tells a tale of it’s own.
