On the subject of eugenics: Eugenics whose goal was and is to convert the womb into little more than a death camp capable of rivaling the modern version of the gas chambers at Buchenwald, Auschwitz, or Dachau, concentration camps where the worth and value of even the unborn will be determined.
This isn’t an argument about pro choice or pro life-it is a discussion about government mandated or sponsored eugenics programs and any who would support such an effort-the irony is that it is a discussion only those who have gone through the process of birth can partake in-and those who favor it are the first to exclude themselves-the first to find their life so valuable, so important as to be beyond consideration.
They have the “right” blood, the “right” intellect, contributions to make the world should not be denied despite whatever “handicaps” they might have-they have the right to live they would deny to others.
Vermont and North Carolina’s previous programs addressing this are only the tip of the iceberg-the 70’s revelations about the sterilization of indigenous women as exposed by then Senator James Abourezk are another.
Yet the world, America, stood aghast as well they should have at the Nazi efforts to “purify”-to build a super race. At their research and experiments in eugenics and cloning.
And here we stand again at the threshold with man and scientists attempting to be God’s, amidst the reality that if somewhere a human being hasn’t already been cloned one will.
Scientific pastimes like creating glowing puppies or fish-all these things with the assurance that all is well, it will lead to great discoveries wherein mankind will benefit.
Will we color code gays and lesbians of various ethnic groups to make them identifiable? Or people with physical or mental disabilities that aren’t readily discernible? How about widows and orphans, or those on public assistance. Or should they have been consigned to a death camp in the womb?
Farfetched you say-outrageous? Indeed it is, yet consider the goals of eugenics, and the tatooed numbers and Star of David Jews were forced to endure.
Consider slavery, discrimination based on ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio economic status, personal appearance, owning a home or being homeless, living in the burbs, on a rez or in a ghetto, Christian, Muslim, Atheist, aged or young, overweight, thin, or ripped, bald, gray haired, mixed blood, full blood, bi-racial, lateral oppression.
How about all those treaties that effectively say if you aren’t white you don’t belong.
