“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross”- Sinclair Lewis
1-a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.
2-a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control.
“Wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross”-sounds familiar doesn’t it? The forcible suppression of opposition-when even the expression of a dissenting opinion now begins to carry a risk factor.
Every campaign directed at the nations from day one employed both as banners. Subjugation alone wasn’t enough-we were to be evangelized and saved from ourselves as well. To be made “useful” and contributing as “good” citizens.
This is the standard under which eugenics and fascism operates, and the question to ask is what degree of separation exists between various political systems that practice them?
Is democracy for example ennobled by it’s other pursuits when it will incorporate eugenic policies at any level? Or a totalitarian one that openly does any less scornful for doing so?
If there is any doubt we aren’t seeing it’s arrival all that is required is to listen to the campaign rhetoric, view legislation that is passed, and examine SC rulings.
Consensus is often touted as the ideal-and one I favor-but when population is counted in the hundreds of millions how is consensus to be achieved? I don’t believe it could be.
It should be obvious to one and all regarding the economic manipulation by Corporations, Wall Street, and the Banking industry that are supported by legislation, the Fed, stimulus and monetary policy, that the citizenry is removed from the equation.
Legislation such as the NDAA that provides for the suspension of Habeas Corpus, the ramping up by the current administration in prosecuting “whistle blowers”-six thus far during it’s three and a half year tenure, as opposed to two during the eight years of the previous administration.
The assault on free speech, privacy, and individual rights, speak to an autocracy characterized not by a lone individual but one composed of the three branches of government to form a single autocratic body with a temporary figure head whose position depends on elections or term limits.
Beginning to sound a lot like the AIM celebrity leadership isn’t it? An autocratic body seeking to control the course of nations replete with it’s own whistleblower policy misdirected at individuals like Annie, Ray, and who knows who else.
This form of fascism was introduced not under the banner of flags and crosses but with the affectation of braids, headbands, and feathers accompanied by a concerted effort to usurp traditional leadership and replace it with a personalized autocratic rule.
Set all the party verbiage aside and examine voting records, particularly those dealing with legislation that serves corporations over the individual and you will find a marked bipartisanship.
There most assuredly will be a public display of championing the people, serving the nation, but the loop hole filled legislation that is passed speaks to something entirely different.
Neither can it be denied this coup against democracy is based on the acquisition of power, influence, wealth, and the ability of those who have it to exercise them in directing the course of nations.
Facts and truth are irrelevant-they are spun linguistically to suit the needs of the moment, seeking to impoverish not only the language, but our understanding of it in a modern day effort reminiscent of the “newspeak” that Orwell wrote of in his classic tale of a dystopian society entitled 1984.
This Newspeak is revisionary in nature-not only seeking to revise language and it’s meaning but directed at the revision of history. That too sounds like celebrity AIM doesn’t it?
Now we have history being rewritten where there were no more than three hundred warriors at the Big Horn, Meso -American cultures didn’t perform ritual sacrifice-they performed “open heart surgery”, and WK2 wasn’t an orchestrated assault, but rather an act of liberation.
As the language goes so goes culture-we as indigenous people cannot control the language of others, but we should be making every effort to preserve and control our own.
If we continue to offer it up for the consumption of all while failing to speak it ourselves, or do likewise with other aspects of our culture we will find ourselves speaking a version of Newspeak both linguistically and culturally as some of our “celebrities” do now, and all we hold as defining of who we are will become impoverished.
It is one thing to live physically impoverished and another to be culturally and spiritually impoverished- it is one of many choices to be made.
We cannot allow ourselves to forget that we are in this land-just as we have been in the past and will be in the future, and we must look to, and out for ourselves.
Everything that impacts this nation will reverberate among us-if we will not or cannot attempt to moderate the effects we are in for difficult times, more so I think than now.
Often when a person follows their own dreams, chooses a course other than that of others, it is said they march to the beat of a different drum.
Everyone wants a better life-we can achieve that for ourselves marching to the beat of our drums, and the drum beat of our hearts.
We don’t have to be anyone other than who we are-we can be more, and should strive to be- though we don’t need individuals like the liberators and walker and talkers defining that for us or attempting to impose their version.
The threats we face go beyond the wolves in sheep’s clothing among us-the greatest is that of assimilation-whose hallmarks are loss of language, culture, and tradition. I one for will not be satisfied if all that is left of these are interactive exhibits at museums.
