Cropped photo of a what was originally some sort of wall fountain I took a while back – it was broken in several places with a mangled tube coming out of the mouth for water that I edited out thinking it has a more dramatic effect as it appears now.
I believe it is a Roman representation of Bacchus, a mythical figure appropriated from the Greeks who they referred to as Dionysus.
From a few years ago……I happened to be passing by and a small glint of different color beneath large foliage and litter caught my eye.
This lone flower had fallen and was mostly hid from view so I got down on my knees and made a little opening to take the photo.
Passersby stopped and wondered what I was up to, they’ll do the same if you just stand and look up at the sky.
So much so a friend would sometimes stand looking intently at the sky and others would begin doing the same.
At some point he would excitedly say “do you see that”? – some would ask what and he’d point and say there……sure enough some number would say oh yeah…… the power of suggestion I suppose.
