There is a profound ignorance, an in your face ignorance and indifference characteristic of elected conservatives and prevalent among their supporters.
An ignorance within that demographic embraced body and soul by men who will never become pregnant, never bear children, never need worry about cervical or breast cancer, or in the vast majority of instances ever spend the majority of their time raising a child.
Ignorance fails to adequately describe men such as these – men who emerge from this demographic who boldly make asinine statements that a woman’s body shuts down when raped and will not become pregnant.
Men who hide behind a blatant lie that not only are they “god fearing” and “family values” oriented but they only want the best for the women, children, and families they attack.
Where are the women in this authoritarian administration who should understand the issues better than their male counterparts, who should be speaking up?
Are they more interested in currying favor and being one of the boys than doing the right thing?
If so maybe they need to quit the pretense and undergo a gender reassignment – become a man, smoke cigars, scratch their crotch, hike their pants and engage in some of that “locker room” talk about grabbing women.
Family values? Better to call it what it is – home grown terrorism with cells in Congress and the Senate.
I suspect the demonstrations immediately following Trump’s election are only the tip of the iceberg.
That as he moves forward with his agenda to gut regulations endangering not only the environment but food safety as well and further alienate foreign nations demonstrations on the scale of the Viet Nam era protests will become commonplace, and law enforcement newly emboldened by Trump’s election will become increasingly aggressive in their response.
Woe to the working and middle class who will assume the burden of unwarranted tax breaks gifted to the wealthy and corporations.
Woe to the disenfranchised who will be further isolated – the damage this man and his conservative cohorts can do even if Trump is a one term president will have a profound effect that could take years, even decades to overcome.
There is nothing great about Trump nor anything great in the direction he seeks to take the nation.
They will stack an already increasingly dysfunctional Supreme Court with second rate nominees who will have little concern for the actual rights of individuals, the environment, or the welfare of the nation.
Rulings like Citizens United will become the norm as the nation careens down the path of Fascism and Corporate empowerment in a further display of Republican ideology characterized by elected officials within the party declaring things like raped women don’t get pregnant due to some biological mystery only Republican pols understand.
The real mystery is that among women who voted the majority went with Trump in what can only be likened to as a display of the battered women syndrome.
In doing so they have voted for a dominant male centric patriarchy and effectively kicked the advances the feminist movement and their sisters have achieved under the bus.
It is a rejection of equal pay for equal work, opportunity, women’s health, maternity leave, and ultimately an attack upon the right of women to say No.
There’s going to be a lot of blame to go around, some of it will require Evangelicals who “prayed” and felt “led by the lord” to facilitate a train wreck to take ownership.
I suggest if they believe in the power of their form of prayer they drop to their knees or enter their “prayer closet” for the next four years in an attempt to unravel the harm they facilitated and forget the mea culpa of it’s all going to be “the lord’s will” when in fact it was their will and unbridled, misguided zealotry.
As to men who voted for all this – well, what can be said other than they probably believe John Wayne actually ran around sweeping women off their feet and killing bad men and Indians?
Men who talk tough, are always ready to defend the honor of the country with military responses at the slightest perceived insult or provocation and equate their personal value with how many guns they own and a shirt that says America love or it leave it – they call themselves patriots, militias, white nationalists, god fearing, conservative, family values oriented, and by god they are the undisputed head of their household.
Another twofer Tuesday:
I don’t know what the problem is for voters who don’t support Bernie Sanders, it can only be that they like their Republican counterparts
have bought into the misinformation that Democratic Socialist reform
somehow equals communism when a high school student could define and explain the differences.
People ask where will the money come from for such reforms? That’s almost to obvious to have to explain:
To begin there is something like two point four corporate and one percentor dollars sitting off shore in tax shelters depending on which statistics are accurate – Sanders wants to close the loopholes that allow such inequities and tax that money.
Tax evading money by entities like Apple, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Google and Abbott Labs – that’s the short list.
He rightfully points out that the tax payers were left with the burden of Wall Street manipulations that led to the recent near economic collapse and now it is their turn to give something
Hillary made a complete fool of herself sending daughter Chelsea out on the campaign trail to claim Sanders wants to do away with Obamacare – thats an absolute lie.
When Obamacare was first being promoted the plan was to make it a single payer program, that was what everyone got behind, the legislation also was “compromised” down, not up.
So if you’re all about Obamacare then you should at least in theory be a
hundred percent behind Sanders proposal.
Student loans are a talking point, students graduate up to their necks in debt and everybody rails about it – so what’s the problem with tuition free education that levels the educational field for everyone and will provide a leg up for all students?
Is it that the image and definition everyone has of “American exceptionalism” is debt servitude and getting hustled at every turn? Of wealth and influence migrating to the very top? Does exceptionalism translate to inequity, injustice, and robber barons?
Sanders is for immigration reform, a realistic approach. Does anyone actually believe or feel the U.S. should exist behind walls like a paranoid gated community? A modern day Masada?
Does anyone actually believe rounding up over eleven million illegal immigrants, running them through the courts, and deporting them is economically or logistically feasible?
How about the minimum wage – you against an appreciable increase? Think it will cost jobs as the Republicans carry on about? If you do then do the research and learn otherwise – an increase would lead to greater purchasing power, a decrease in public assistance, and increased production and jobs. Ergo, a healthier economy and population.
If you’re looking to find tax revenue consider those savings and the resulting increase in taxable income.
Consider that single payer insurance would not only reduce rates but create competition among providers and pharmaceutical companies.
The Republican party is all about “read my lips, no new taxes” that the tax burden is “unfair”.
The question is unfair to who? It certainly isn’t to corporations or one
precenters as the Republicans across the board are willing to throw themselves and every man, woman, and child in this country in front of a train to insure their buds either don’t pay taxes or the least possible amount, they do this while waving the flag, talking about patriotism, and bullshitting their supporters who they expect a profound ignorance from.
They’ll say right to your face a minimum wage increase just isn’t possible, but somehow more tax breaks and loopholes for their pimps are.
Knowing their base they make it all about gun control, family values that they can’t even spell the words for, and of course ISIS and how they’ll just completely annihilate not only iSIS but all terrorists in the bargain, another load of bullshit.
But hey, they know the tunes their supporters will dance to.
The Republicans are going to make the nation great, they have a divine mandate from God to do so. Don’t believe so? Then ask them.
Maybe they’ll decide to deport non Christians, people who don’t believe exactly as they do.
How will they go about this revival? They’ll do way with regulations that insure the water in every community isn’t like the water in Flint, Michigan.
They’ll do away with regulations related to food safety, job safety, commercial, public, and personal transportation, the environment, and any regulation that actually serves a beneficial purpose.
They’ll do away with anything even remotely resembling planned parenthood because apparently they and god believe it’s better for a child to be born in poverty and dependent on the very public assistance programs they also want to do away with – a plan to create generations of mendicants and dependency, a plan to create children born with physical and mental handicaps due to a lack of prenatal care, a plan assured to leave in it’s wake malnourished children, but perhaps more heinous, a plan to create a legion of minimum wage “service” workers who will fight for any scrap that falls from the table.
Besides they’d have you believe every woman who engages in premarital sex or any woman who is pro choice is basically a slut married or not.
That’s Republican law, a concoction of Mosaic and Sharia law.
Exceptions of course being made for one of their own.
When that’s the case it becomes the Jimmy Swaggert thing of having sinned but forgiven.
And a child born of such a premarital union or even a rape? While precious and has the right to life is in the end a child of a lesser god or no god at all and society shouldn’t have to “take care” them.
Democratic Socialist Reforms are the great evil? Not by a long shot – the Republican Party’s platform and policies are the true evil.
And though I don’t hold with such terms for the special few among the fringe element who do for their benefit I’ll say the Republican Party is led by the “demons”, “satanists”, and even funnier, the “sodomites” they love to rave on about.
Hillary Clinton can attempt whatever makeover she thinks will work, but the reality is she amounts to little more than a “lite” version of Republicanism.
The corporate cronyism of Hillary and the Clinton Foundation have known no bounds when it comes to accepting money in exchange for providing access and influence from Wall Street all the way to the Saudis and even Russia.
They’ve long known “the art of deal” without ever having to read Trump’s book – I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they served in some part as source material.
Hillary the “reformer”? When pigs fly.
