I’m going to wander afield a little with the content of this blog, some may think it is entirely unrelated to the normal issues that are addressed but due to the implications I submit it isn’t.
I’m not a gamer and could care less about all things Microsoft, I make every attempt to avoid using any product they are associated with, but this demands something more than a whatever for the potential ramifications.
Microsoft want’s a cut on the resale of used video games!!!!! Who in the hell do they think they are? And what IDIOT court or potentially introduced piece of legislation could possible agree with or facilitate this?
What-Gates doesn’t have enough billions as it is? Think stock holders care about spending more? They can use their increased profits, or more likely a Playstation or Wii.
A precedent could be set that could conceivably lead to an auto manufacturer demanding the same if a person elected to sell a used car they OWNED.
Used furniture, used appliances, that old comp, a book-nothing would be off the table.
How far are people willing to go, how much will they accept in the name of corporate greed?
You’re not a gamer you say so what’s the big deal? Think again.
You pay for something, you own it, end of story-it’s yours. Either that or there is no ownership of anything-you’re only renting it, paying for the “privilege” of it’s use while a bunch a greedy fat cats devise every means they can to keep their hand in your pocket and keep you paying and paying and paying.
The article in the below link asks a rhetorical(?) question, the answer ought to be obvious to everyone.
