Republicans/Conservatives and their phony family and religious “values”
Automated empathy coming from the President of the United States and NRA minions like Marco Rubio who in a townhall meeting yesterday ran through his own personal list of “I hear you” and then boldly stated his lack of support for not banning assault rifles while proclaiming he will continue to accept money from the NRA.
Trump so detached, so addle brained clutched a list of what to ask and say during his meeting with survivors and parents of victims of the Parkland shooting that included the words “I hear you”.
In essence the message is that government is totalitarian in nature believing it has the singular right to tell people what to do rather than being representative – a right predicated entirely on contributions from entities like the NRA.
I’ve called on conservatives to defend the positions their elected officials take on more than one occasion, so far none have perceived any wisdom or talking point in doing so that could possibly advance or defend their case.
Hope springs eternal though as the infighting, intrigues, and total dysfunction of this administration exacts a toll so once again I issue the same invitation, this time related to the below links and the pervasive conservative attitude that issues involving women like pre and post natal care, birth control, equal pay and access aren’t worthy of consideration.
So here’s a question for conservatives – if a conservative woman were to be raped and become pregnant what are the implications, would you say that she elected to become pregnant inspite of being raped?
Did she just “have a glass of wine” and chose to “relax”?
Don’t be timid now, step up – if you believe something you should say so, likewise if you don’t, and if you don’t then you need to take a long look at such gems of wisdom, those voicing the opinion and call it what it is – bullshit.
I would suggest taking note of the recommended video in the first link re wage discrepancies in the Trump administration as opposed to those in previous administrations which during Obama’s tenure had been reduced to eleven percent.
Now I fully understand it’s easy to be dismissive of opinions and facts presented on this blog, there may even be a perceived efficacy in doing so, some sanctuary of silence – but it’s much more difficult to dismiss the reality, and that head in the sand ostrich approach doesn’t work.
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
I think to begin with an essential premise to understand is that all governments and their agencies lie.
They always have, and if the past is prologue there’s no reason to believe they won’t continue to.
For all the discussions about rights and the Constitution what is often ignored are a few simple words in the Preamble and they are to “promote the general welfare”.
That’s a very broad an inclusive statement – it can be assumed taking note of the remaining words that the general welfare includes the pursuit of justice, domestic tranquility, and providing a common defence against enemies both foreign and domestic while insuring the “Blessings of Liberty”.
In this promotion no mention is made of creating a caste system where any are favored above another – nowhere does it state that the wealthy or corporations are more deserving.
And yet it cannot be denied a caste system does exist – that corporations and the wealthy have the greater influence, receive special attention, and are routinely attended to by both political parties.
As long as such inequities exist the common welfare and domestic tranquility will amount to little more than words penned long ago.
Government and a majority of politicians have always been corrupt, but the bar has been so lowered that some demographics seem to believe this to be an acceptable norm – they in fact appear to revel in it.
And to what end? Do rhetoric or blatant lies possess a greater substance than truthfulness and the common welfare of all citizens?
Is it a “Blessing of Liberty” or an example of “justice” for people to work for substandard wages while the wealthy with influence and lobbyists literally make millions?
Does passing out ethics waivers to bring individuals into an administration or increasing the number of swamp denizens serve the common welfare?
Are Elders blessed when they don’t receive a cost of living adjustment for years in the midst of politicians giving themselves one? Is “justice” to be found in that?
If you believe so then you should support both the Republican Party and this administration because that is what they stand for.
This and nothing more, not “family values”, not justice and equity, not leaving no child behind, not clean water nor clean air and food, not consumer protections or regulations holding Wall Street and the banking industry accountable, nor a healthcare system that every over “civilized” nation has.
The current administration is the predictable culmination of an erosion of ethics in government and by extension voters who have served to enable the decline by ignoring their responsibility to hold elected officials accountable in lieu of swearing a loyalty oath to the party of their choice.
Whatever integrity the Republican party had went out the window when they allowed Evangelicals the influence they have – Evangelicals who thump their bibles and support a man who is the very antithesis of the principles they claim to live their life by……. which in my opinion makes them as fraudulent as Trump is.
Barry Goldwater a former long serving Republican senator warned of this, Eisenhower warned of the industrial/military complex and corporate greed.
Acceptance is an embrace, a surrender, to an in your face arrogance and dystopian belief that a lie has a greater value than the truth – that a bankruptcy prone pathologically lying real estate developer is in actuality a political savant.
That it’s acceptable to kick everyone else but the wealthy, robber baron corporations and their CEOs to the curb.
I submit there is really nothing new in any of this – it is a matter of degrees, and having gone down that path the nation has turned against itself, a nation in the midst of an ideological civil war the toll of which is yet to be determined, and in so doing cannibalizing itself and the very precepts it claims to hold dear above all others.
That’s pretty much the gist of it when it comes to Trump’s core base, even so as of yet they apparently are either in full blown denial or just excruciatingly slow on the up take – more likely a combination of the two.
They suspect something is amiss, some vague inkling they’ve been sold a bill of goods and find the manner in which they’ve been duped too unsettling to confront it and admit the obvious.
So let’s see – every country on the planet has signed on to the Paris agreement save for three, and they are The U.S., Syria, and Nicaragua.
This amounts to being between a rock and hard spot for the Trumpkins to discover they are now in the same bed with the very countries they historically express disdain for.
That may be something of the norm though in the world of prostitution, but I submit they would be well advised to abandon the pimps they’re elected.
But then if Trump will cozy up to Putin why not Assad ?
There are no silver bullets for global problems, no one size fits all solution – what’s important are confronting the issues and the incremental steps along the way to build on.
The problem with Republicans is that if they don’t author a bill, any piece of legislation or agreements they don’t perceive as pandering to the wealthy and corporations they don’t want anything to do with it, and it shouldn’t be forgotten that the Kyoto agreement was likewise abandoned by them and former president Bush.
What’s interesting is that among the conservative pols and rank and file which includes a number of corporations is that while they have consistently denied climate change they now are saying withdrawing from the Paris Accord is a mistake.
Duplicity is putting it mildly, but when you look at their reasons they become entirely understandable.
These sudden advocates are ultimately saying the reverse of what they’ve said previously – now the withdrawal will lead to a loss of jobs, but more importantly for them as corporations lost revenue, and that is what their concerned about.
One transparently feckless response to all this is conservatives point to China as being the world’s biggest polluter, and while that’s true they conveniently overlook the fact that a country ( the U.S.) nowhere near the size of China and with a significantly lower population is in second place.
They also ignore the fact that China is making a concerted effort to clean up their own backyard with a full court press to convert to clean energy.
What this dunce Trump and his conservatives cohorts have done is to hand the keys of leadership to other nations.
Is there so much as a single Trump supporter who may read this willing to step up and explain how this will lead to “greatness” or are they content to ruminate among themselves that it’s all fake news, part of a “witch hunt”?
There is a profound ignorance, an in your face ignorance and indifference characteristic of elected conservatives and prevalent among their supporters.
An ignorance within that demographic embraced body and soul by men who will never become pregnant, never bear children, never need worry about cervical or breast cancer, or in the vast majority of instances ever spend the majority of their time raising a child.
Ignorance fails to adequately describe men such as these – men who emerge from this demographic who boldly make asinine statements that a woman’s body shuts down when raped and will not become pregnant.
Men who hide behind a blatant lie that not only are they “god fearing” and “family values” oriented but they only want the best for the women, children, and families they attack.
Where are the women in this authoritarian administration who should understand the issues better than their male counterparts, who should be speaking up?
Are they more interested in currying favor and being one of the boys than doing the right thing?
If so maybe they need to quit the pretense and undergo a gender reassignment – become a man, smoke cigars, scratch their crotch, hike their pants and engage in some of that “locker room” talk about grabbing women.
Family values? Better to call it what it is – home grown terrorism with cells in Congress and the Senate.

Well, by now everyone is aware that climate change is a Chinese hoax, and it only took a raving idiot and his henchmen to disabuse of us our former belief that climate change is real.
That the science is questionable at best if not outright fake news, and green house gases have nothing to do with the environment.
To stress the point it would probably be a good thing if this current administration were to remove all climate related regulations, treat rivers and streams as though the dirtier they are the better it is for “jobs”, and generally ignore the overwhelming preponderance of evidence to the contrary.
The nation is better served bending over and catering to corporations being a major source of pollution that they are.
We shouldn’t care if our food glows in the dark as long as Monsanto can make a buck and control the growth and distribution of crops or Dow chemical can be given free reign.
We shouldn’t care that without food safety regulations there will be more contaminated peanut butter, more contaminated everything.
We shouldn’t care if our tap water becomes a new combustible source of energy or children become laden with lead and other toxins.
National Parks, who needs them? Nothing but tourists and a bunch of animals running around loose – besides think of the alternatives like the potential for designer respirators and pale sickly children.
Who wouldn’t want to see strip mined or clear cut mountain sides?
Who doesn’t want to play Russian Roulette with finite resources, looming resource wars, and power outages?
We’re talking about making a country “great” and the duty of patriots to sacrifice, a belief that people aren’t really human beings but more of a two legged lemming willing to hurl themselves into the abyss.
Forget about that family values and in god we trust thing – they’ve been replaced with families don’t count and in Drumpf the great pumpkin we’re supposed to trust.
Yeah, climate change …… what a load of bs huh?
