As tragic as the events that transpired in San Bernadino related to yet another terrorist attack are it is tailor made for a full blown display of the congenital ignorance of banner waving rabid disciples of both the Republican and Democratic parties.
Republicans will employ it to ramp up attacks on gun control advocates and as a vehicle to instill both fear and anger in the general population, the clown prince of buffonery,Trump, will lead the pack in doing so as they each attempt to outdo the other.
Democrats on the otherhand will studiously avoid referring to what took place was the result of “Islamic Fundamentalist terrorism” for fear of being seen as politically incorrect while attempting to make this all about gun control.
They will likewise ignore the reality that the vetting process they would assure one and all when it comes to Syrian refugees is foolproof and nothing to worry about.
In doing so they will likely attempt the verbal sleight of hand that the woman in question wasn’t a refugee but entered as the wife of an American citizen, even though in taking such an approach it still demonstrates a flawed vetting process especially in view of the fact that she gave a bogus address in Pakistan when applying for a temporary visa prior to getting married.
Tashfeen Malik, the wife of co terrorist Syed Rizwan Farook, it is now being said to have pledged allegiance to the ISIS leadership – I suppose in the eyes and definition of the current administration that makes her a member of the “contained jv squad” though I have little doubt they will attempt to skate around that as well. Especially in the midst of a campaign season in an effort keep the herd intact.
The focus of reporting seems to be shifting to Tashfeen Malik, as though her husband Syad was merely a bit player, some mindless dupe who couldn’t help but be radicalized by his wife.
I won’t buy into that as we’re talking about a grown educated man, and both are equally responsible.
The issue of gun violence needs to be addressed, to do so coherently people will need to do something more than endlessly and inanely repeat their favorite talking point or what is in favor at any particular moment emanating from their party of choice.
Responsible gun owners need to be an active participant in a reasoned discussion if any equitable solution is to be arrived at, and that will in my opinion involve a healthy dose of commonsense in lieu of rhetoric.
All the laws in the world will not stop criminals or terrorists from having guns, the proof of that exists in cities like NYC and others that has some of the toughest gun laws.
Talk is the cheapest of commodities, though you would think some are of the belief their words are priceless beyond measure.
I suggest ignoring those who hold such an opinion and likewise these words I offer if they fail to resonate.
I don’t believe all Muslims are bad people, nor do I believe all Christians are bad people, but what I’m a little fed up with is promoting either belief system as being all about peace and love.
Anyone who has actually read the Bible, especially the Old Testament, and the Koran rather than relying on internet quotes or excerpts thinking such quotes and excerpts makes them an expert knows they are both riddled with violence and admonishments to commit violence, something their combined history speaks to in no small measure as a reality.
That isn’t to say all Muslims or all Christians will take it to heart, nor should they, but there will always be those who will. Nor does it imply all believers of either faith should be prejudged, shunned, or themselves become victims of abuse, ridicule, scorn, or worse.
Religious intolerance is very much a part of the equation regardless of what quadrant it emanates from, and that includes atheists.
Muslims need to police their religious communitites, to take back their
religion from radical elements.
The same can be said of Christianity that always claims god is on their side when it comes to war and tolerates radical elements and extreme fundalmentists of their own within their religious communities.
Either, or both, failing to do so and nothing changes – here’s a clue for the Christian side of the aisle – the Republicans aren’t god’s spokespersons, nor are the grifters know as televangelists.
I don’t care if a woman wants to wear clothes that cover her from top to bottom, or cover her face with a cloth featuring peepholes if it’s a freewill choice – nor do I believe women need to dress in such a way as letting it all hang out as though some sort of advertising campaign is going on – yet that too is a matter of choice.
Have I crossed the imaginary political correctness line? If so I don’t give a damn – like I said, I’m little fed up with the bullshit and quackery of party centric wannabe pundits, their idols, and so called “political correctness”.
So, as the impending tsunami of opinions, rhetoric, spin, and punditry descends upon us I would suggest people at least do some measure of the math on their own, not rely upon a single source or army of internet know it alls.
Dig a little, take at a look at something other than party handouts and the mainstream media – there are viable alternative news sources available that shouldn’t be overlooked – you may even find a gem tucked away behind the bias of conservative or liberal sites.
The first link below is Obama’s latest announcement related to the shootings, and in all fairness is the most coherent statement made thus far by this administration in my opinion.
Who can deny the sensibility that if a person isn’t deemed trustworthy to board a plane how can they be deemed trustworthy enough to purchase a gun?
The no fly list isn’t a perfect construct as has been demonstrated in the past, but in circumstances such as these there are those who would say better safe than sorry.
I don’t have much use for the redneck types who call themselves patriots and go on about they can have my gun when they pry it from my cold dead hands, no more than I believe you can lump all Muslims or all Christians into a one size fits all or do the same for law abiding individuals who happen to own a gun(s) for hunting, sports like trap and skeet, or self protection, and that seems to be what has been missing in the majority of discussions.
