The definition of racism:
Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior.
There is apparently no escape from what I consider to be a global lunacy when it comes to racism, how it is interpreted or defined by individuals and the fact that it exists.
There was a time when I was younger, in my teens and early twenties when I had no use for anything white – in describing that in an earlier blog I said it extended to even a bar of soap, something of an exaggeration but I wanted to make a point about the ignorance I was embracing.
As I said in that blog I grew up and began to understand the stupidity of judging anyone based on ethnicity and also have repeatedly addressed the issue of “white guilt” in saying I don’t believe there is a universal one size fits guilt that is applicable to anyone, that guilt is the singular result of deeds and words.
If it’s about racism and guilt they exist it in every ethnic demographic everywhere on this planet and it is a global stupidity that it does.
In the previous blog I added a couple of videos by the Eagles and in an earlier one another by Rod Stewart – having done so I’ve been informed by an individual in a series of rambling dissertations that in some bizarre manner I am exhibiting racist tendencies because I like the songs I posted.
The offense re Stewart’s song of Forever Young? Beats me.
The offense of the Eagles songs and one I mentioned I didn’t link titled The End of The Innocence? Haven’t a clue though I was asked if I interpreted the use of the word “warrior” in Innocence as being racist? That’s a question that isn’t even worth responding to.
Maybe the intent wasn’t to say Stewart and the Eagles are racist but that I am because I like some of their music though the implication was they are conjoined.
In an email exchange I suggested this person stop – low and behold I was told the word stop is some kind of anti semitic “code” word.
News to me, never heard anything like that from anyone including a Jewish couple I’ve known for quite a while I asked about it.
Wasn’t at all surprised when they said it was news to them as well.
What’s really surprising is to think about how many stop signs there are in this country, in this hemisphere and elsewhere – all along motorists have been duped into thinking it was about traffic control when they were actually being exposed to hate speech and code words or that every person who likes a song by Henley or Stewart are somehow fomenting racism.
I did a search on the net using the words “ is stop an anti semitic code word” and found nothing, though I did run across a Ted Cruz quote that “New York values” is code for Jewish.
I even asked the question in the search window of a Jewish site and got nothing.
As to stop maybe I didn’t dig deep enough, didn’t plunge the depths of the internet that are comparable to the sewer systems that run beneath cities.
Ted Cruz, yeah, there’s someone whose every word is to be taken as gospel.
I mean who comes up with this kind of bullshit? Is it the same people who spend their time in basements posting conspiracy theories and warning about Reptilians in government or the impending doom of Planet X?
The real question is how racist and to what extent are they?
Word police and the so called political correctness that gives rise to such things.
How about the word mother or dog, how many negative connotations can be applied to them and who has nothing better to do than attempting to apply them?
During AIM’s reign of terror personified by the number of their victims at WK2 and the total destruction they visited against that community a part of the control mechanism was to accuse someone of being an informant- there didn’t have to be any basis in fact it was something tossed around.
A sad commentary is the word racist is, has, and will be employed in the same manner by people with the same mindset.
Maybe as a sign, proof that a person isn’t racist or supports racism they ought to risk life and limb by running every stop sign they see as an expression of protest- maybe they should exclude words like mother, dog, or who knows what others from their vocabulary, or maybe they should just tell those making such claims to grow up like I did and get a life.
Hey, maybe the colored traffic lights are code for something sinister, or that Yield sign – what’s the hidden message in Yield?
Or those beware children at play signs, should we interpret that to mean we need to beware of children playing because they could pose a personal threat?
What about a Caution sign, is that something posted by the “Illuminati” or word police that we need to exercise caution in our thoughts and speech or pay the price?
A couple of things I know and consider undeniable is that racism is directed at every demographic – that’s every demographic, white, black, yellow, brown, and red in varying degrees and there is nothing more hypocritical for victims of racism to practice it themselves in the midst of pointing their finger at others, and if the metric is to be an eye for eye then as Gandhi said we’ll all wind up blind.
History can’t be changed and no one should be so intimidated they aren’t willing to discuss it in something resembling a sane and thoughtful manner, it can’t be covered up by some societal mimicry of a cat in a litter box, and people should understand history is being created in every waking moment of every day.
And so once again I say S T O P and don’t care if anyone wants to distort and corrupt my meaning in saying so as I know exactly what I mean and it hasn’t a damn thing to do with anti semiticism.
I was accused of being somehow racist or lack empathy because I think it’s wrong for black people to call themselves “niggah”, I think it’s wrong for my own red people to protest a team mascot or name and then call themselves “skins”.
If it’s all about striking an offensive word from the lexicon no one should use it.
Wrong because if I use the word “rebel” some may be offended because they will associate it with the Civil War and the Confederacy – didn’t matter that the word speaks to rebellion, rebelling against entrenched inequities like racism – didn’t matter that in that I likened Martin Luther King jr, Mahatma Ghandi, and Nelson Mandela as rebels.
Doesn’t matter that people of color and conscience rebelled against George Wallace or Jim Crow laws – doesn’t matter that my people rebelled against an invasion, about being confined to gulags, or continue to rebel against injustice.
Doesn’t matter that the word can be employed in the context of disgust for governmental policies and societal norms.
In one of Pee Wee Hermann’s movies there’s laughable moment when he says he’s a rebel – does that mean that Hermann who is Jewish supports the Klan or any other lunatic group?
No, none of that mattered, it’s all about what some may erroneously or prefer to think – well here’s the wake up call I’m going to say what I damn well please whenever I feel like it as I know exactly what I mean, there is no secret meaning, no “coding”, no racist intent – in a word I’m not going to play that game or cater to the whims of others.
If my words are so obscure, so difficult for anyone to understand they can ask, once told it’s on them and they can take it however they like, file it in whatever agenda folder they like.
As nations our voice was taken from us for decades and I’m not giving it up to appease anyone – not the word and thought police, the crazed over the top political correctness crowd or trolls, or closet racists accusing others of being racist.
