A great deal is being said about the Constitution and Bill of Rights in the last few years-I find it of interest that proportionate with this Russell has expressed a ramped up verbal affection for them as well-often enunciating a love for the documents-and to such an extent as to offer his “advice” to OWS.
It is in keeping with the familiar penchant to do anything in an attempt to gain some current relevance.
Everything, every issue, every topic, is evaluated on that premise and how it will translate to a monetary opportunity-the latest offering is in the form of an ebook with the misnomer “wisdom” contained in the
title, and persists in flogging the dead horse of matriarchy he has made of his version.
Russell has not only forgotten the names of the clouds but the names of the nations as you will see below-though I have little doubt he can name every likeness on every bill printed and every coin minted.
During Russell’s tenure as director of Cleveland AIM he took it upon himself to file a nine million dollar claim against the Cleveland Indians baseball organization-this when the mascot issue was gaining traction and media attention.
What has always interested me is that it isn’t enough to just file a suit stating that we want this to stop, but that it is about receiving some monetary “compensation” as well. But then again AIM has always been about the pursuit of money-whether it be federal, state, local, or foreign-something AIM evolved into an art form.
Following Russell’s resignation from AIM, one of many, he instructed his replacement Jerome Weitzel, an apparent “indianist” who also went by the name Jerome War Cloud, to settle the suit, which he did, for $35,000.
A far cry from nine million-a suit that claimed such merit, such egregious affrontery as to be valued at nine million settled for $35,000- where this money went is known, how it was used as being funds that belonged to all indigenous people is another story.
Seems as though “chief” War Cloud and “chief debilitator” Russell divvied up the money and have never accounted for it. Hopefully it was spent on something more worthwhile than that used car salesman look of white pants and spats.
When questioned the best Russell could come up with is it went to some vague ephemeral survival school. I suppose if one were to request receipts and proof such a request would be attacked as “colonial”, racist, or Cointelpro- see how that works, how easy it is?
Nine million, thirty five thousand, nine dollars- more to the point is that whatever the amount was is secondary-the overriding issue is it belonged to neither Russell or Weitzel.
Activism that isn’t founded on truth, honesty, transparency, and integrity is nothing more than a form of terrorism- those “activists” who participate in such doing little more than engaging in criminal activity.
Sounds like an extreme position to take? I suggest an open and honest appraisal of the events of WK2 speak directly to it as being an act of terrorism- a litany of crimes committed.
Buildings and homes ransacked and burned-hostages taken, murders and rapes committed, property stolen, essential services denied-all textbook for an invading force, an act of terrorism.
If the same were to be committed in any city, township, or community in this country other than at WK by AIM no one would have the least bit of difficulty in calling it what it was and denouncing it.
Instead the truth has been distorted and manipulated into some romanticized media driven tale of cowboys and Indians. Of a heroic band of “warriors” grieviously outnumbered by the Calvary and making statements to every camera in proximity that it all ends at WK, it is a good day to die-and yet tucking their tails between their legs and fleeing at the opportune moment.
Russell has in the past been the featured speaker on a tour promoted by the Unification Church- a well known cult run by Sun Yung Moon, he’s run for elective office with Larry Flynt of Hustler magazine, he wanted to open a liquor store in White Clay to address the issue of alcoholism, and in a statement released by the Associated Press said the following in 1988:
“AIM people are now integrated into every productive and responsible segment of Indian and non-Indian society,” “The American Indian Movement has accomplished the impossible: AIM has worked itself out of a job.”
So, I ask who has forgotten the names of the clouds? Who is the patriot? Who speaks with wisdom? Who facilitates and who debilitates? Whose finger is always on the reset button?
