Sia is a member of the resident hound brigade, stalwart, territorial if something or someone doesn’t pass muster, and somewhat of a big goof. Loves children and always ready to play.
Little ones will dig a hole as little ones are inclined to, usually for reasons known only to themselves. Sia will eagerly join in, dirt flying everywhere accompanied by an occasional snort or two -and I assume she may have reasons also known only to herself.
One time I watched as little ones were digging a hole, rather than join in the fun Sia lay nearby, ears perked up and watching with great interest, upon completion she immediately ran to get a bone, returned dropping it in the newly excavated hole, covered it over, and promptly laid on top of it with what surely was a smile.
Cracked everybody up and made me think of that part in Tom Sawyer where he is assigned to paint a fence and cons his friends into doing the work for him.
Clever girl, and a lot going on in that head of hers.
Sia is fascinated with grubs, and whenever any holes are being dug she’s on the scout for them. If any turn up she begins to jump around barking and feinting in and out until she grabs one in her mouth.
Doesn’t eat them, just something going on between grubs and her. It was almost a given, or maybe grub divine providence that at some point one would latch onto her nose, and sure enough that’s exactly what happened.
It’s really comical to see a dog go cross eyed trying to look at the end of their nose, even more so when they begin flailing away at their nose with a paw, or attempt the two paw flail while standing up.
You’d think if was all that unsettling Sia would steer clear of grubs, but maybe she figures a little payback is in order.
Worms hold zero attraction for her, if shown one it’s a yawn and yeah whatever – sort of a, well, that’s nice but excuse me I have to wash my hair now.
Like I said – something of a goof….but a keeper for sure.
