I’m going to begin this blog by answering a question I’ve been asked several times, and that is why do I blog about political issues?
Sometimes I ask myself the same question because it seems as though the only wall that has been built are the individual ones Trump supporters have surrounded themselves with to keep facts and the truth out of their backyard.
The reason is fairly simple though, I’ve come to understand how susceptible the nations are to the direction administrations take.
I mean really understand it, not just a casual awareness or a topic to avoid – adverse policies don’t create a ripple for us they create a tsunami.
If it’s bad for the country in general it will be even worse for ndn country as a minority that isn’t seen as anything more than the “ndn problem”..
Add to that my firm belief that silence is consent and the reasons become obvious.
The current administration represents a bigger threat to our women and children than any we’ve seen for some time.
We didn’t vote for this clown, will have little if any input or influence in the legislation or policies he advances, and will be consigned as will the rest of the country to endure whatever comes down the road.
So not only will I not give the silence of consent I’ll raise hell related to any inequities I perceive – if I’m wrong in my perceptions then I invite any who believe so to inform and enlighten me.
Things have changed somewhat as the decades have come and gone but the bottom line is as a people we have been imprisoned in American gulags replete with genocidal efforts to sterilize, “relocate” as a vehicle of assimilation to undermine our traditions and facilitate land grabs, and steal our children.
That’s a generational imprisonment children were born into, lived their lives, and then passed on.
The nations have truly been “political prisoners”, the prisoners of politics, policy, Manifest Destiny, an egregious indifference and sense of entitlement by an invading force, and ultimately prisoners of dependency.
A generational imprisonment consisting of abject poverty, elders and children shivering in the cold, and still to this day areas in the gulag where water has to be carried in with buckets, and lighting at night consists of candles or lanterns.
So I’m not interested in hearing a bunch of bs about making America great or how the nation is going to win so much people will become tired of winning.
I’m not interested in a bunch of skin heads, wannabe Minute Men, or “patriots” waving a flag and saying America love it leave it – that as a people we “lost” and “get over it”, that we’re all ignorant, lazy, and drunks, and I’m sure as hell not interested in any brand of “patriotism” that would elect someone like Trump.
Dependency, a crafted dependency, that is the rub, the ultimate humiliation, as no people, no person, no nation, can be sovereign when dependent for something as basic as food.
Sovereign? Really, when we are attacked and women have their arm blown off or an eye so severely damaged as to lose vision in it as they attempt to invoke treaty rights related to land and water?
This administration is intent on demonstrating that there are no sovereign nations within it’s border and it’s only going to get worse.
And for those who haven’t done the math that is the exact sentiment expressed by liberal Democrat George McGovern during WK2.
With that being said I’ll continue on to the topic I was going to address:
It’s regrettable that a wheelchair bound woman like Linda Preast who along with countless others depends on a program like Meals on Wheels was “under the influence”, an influence of lies by both the man and the party she placed her faith in.
I don’t know what the particular motivation was for Preast’s vote was, well intentioned I imagine, but certainly misinformed, certainly under the influence.
What Trump and the Republicans in Congress are doing is in effect punishing the disadvantaged and dependent as they insure the rich get richer.
That isn’t anything new though as it has been their stock in trade for decades if not generations.
Millions are being spent ferrying Trump back and forth to his Florida residence, millions more are being spent for secret service measures at Trump Tower and to jet set around with his offspring, but there’s no money for viable social programs?
This is the vaunted change an “outsider” was going to bring?
A man who didn’t owe anyone anything and yet has filled cabinet posts with Wall Streeters and one percenters?
The good news is Trump’s approval rating continues to plummet as does the approval rating of Congress.
The bad news is it is taking more than a growing disillusionment to do so – human suffering is the vehicle.
Clean water and air, the environment, the aged and ill, children, single parents, public education, pregnant women, lies upon lies, entire ethnic demographics, and long standing allies are all being kicked to the curb by a mentally deranged man who claims to know everything about everything and his Republican henchmen.
A man incapable of speaking truthfully, thinking in a reasonable and sane manner, and wouldn’t know a fact if it bit him in the ass.
Is this the best Democracy can do? Is this “winning”?
Under the influence – if an alcoholic or a drug addict can overcome the influence of both hopefully those who voted for and continue to support Trump and his minions can do likewise.
Additionally what do you make of a man’s thoroughly discredited accusations about wiretapping, illegal votes in the millions, and has as his unimpeachable sources alt right entities like Brietbat and Fox News?
What do you make of man who after making his wiretap allegations skips town on the day of a related Congressional meeting to address the issue.
That’s right, Trump took it on the lam to Kentucky when since he was the principle in this committee meeting it stands to reason he should have been called to testify.
That of course would have proven to be too embarrassing and so he wasn’t, opting instead to flee town and launch yet another twitter tirade.
Real leadership huh?
Didn’t do much good though as FBI Director Comey effectively stuck it to Trump.
Any who have read about the Nixon era Watergate fiasco and Nixon’s firing of independent counsel Archibald Cox who was assigned to head the investigation and ultimately led Nixon to resign can see the Republicans learned a lesson from that – they want absolutely nothing to do with an independent counsel.
I don’t know if Comey like Cox can be fired, but it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Trump were to tweet, or in Trump’s case “twit”, that Comey and the FBI are enemies of the people.
